Montefiore School of Nursing

Campus Description

The Montefiore School of Nursing offers a two-year hospital based Associate degree program in Registered Nursing. Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX RN licensing exam to become a licensed registered nursing. Excellent hands-on clinical experiences are obtained on a weekly basis throughout the Montefiore Health System located in Westchester County as well as the Bronx. 38 students are enrolled each semester. Enrollment Options: Day Option enrolls annually in late August. Evening/Saturday Option enrolls every January. 69 total credits are required for program completion which includes 39 nursing credits as well as 30 liberal arts & sciences credits. We strongly recommend the completion of the following college courses prior to enrollment to decrease course work load: English composition 1, English composition 2, general psychology, developmental psychology lifespan, intro to sociology, nutrition, anatomy & physiology 1, anatomy & physiology 2 and microbiology. Grades of C+ or better are transferable. All applicants are required to complete one year of high school chemistry with lab or one semester of college chemistry with lab. Grade achieved must be a C or better. An entrance exam called the Kaplan Admission Test (KAT) is required for admission consideration. A Dual Admission Partnership with Mercy College located in Dobbs Ferry, NY provides students with a track towards completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN). Accelerated licensure eligibility after 3 years instead of 4 years.
