Campus Description

Excelsior College is an accredited, nonprofit distance learning institution that focuses on removing obstacles to the educational goals of adult learners. Founded in 1971 and located in Albany, NY, Excelsior is a proven leader in the assessment and validation of student knowledge. It offers more efficient and affordable access to degree completion through multiple avenues: its own online courses and college-level proficiency examinations, and the acceptance in transfer of credit from other colleges and universities as well as recognized corporate and military training programs. Excelsior College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. It also has specialty accreditation from TAC of ABET and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

Featured Programs

All of Excelsior College's 30 degree programs are especially designed to meet the needs of working adults, among whom are approximately 11,900 members of our nation's armed forces. The college is home to a unique, competency-based nursing program and the nation's largest school of nursing. Excelsior also offers a series of ACE evaluated college-level proficiency examinations that students can use to earn credit toward a degree at hundreds of colleges around the country.

$100 application fee, $440 continuing fee per year (wavied if student completes 12 credits each yr.), $495 graduation fee (reduced by $15 for every credit attempted), $490 per credit hour for undergraduate courses
